I'm making an animated short film.
In October 2016 I had an idea for an ambitious project that would put my storytelling, design, and technical skills to the ultimate test: a 10-12 minute animated short film involving scripting, storyboarding, character design, 3D modeling, motion graphics, animation, video editing, sound effects, and formal film festival releases.
…and boy did I get ahead of myself. As of Fall 2018, I’m halfway through animation production. Progress on this project came to a screeching halt late last year when I got a new job and had fewer hours to dedicate to it. To be completely honest, looking back at the edit I have so far has left me pretty disappointed. It’s amazing what a few months away from a video can do for your perspective. Anyway, I hope to finish the project eventually, but it likely won’t be for awhile.
In the mean time, I’ve whittled down my film to an 18-second cut for the Giphy Film Festival. I’d hate to let all of this work go to waste, so this festival seemed like a good way to salvage some early bits. You can view my entry here.
